【Business Card Holder】Card Case Flower Cloth Red よつめ染布舎
This business card case is made using the traditional stencil-dyeing technique known as "katazome".
Each piece is handmade by artisans, so every item—even with the same pattern—has its own character.
The pattern edges may wobble or the dyeing may vary;
that "irregularity" brings out expressions and warmth that can't be produced digitally.
*Because the pattern varies depending on where the fabric is cut, you cannot choose the placement of the pattern. Please understand this in advance.
A business card case that sparks conversation
When you think of a business card case, simple plain leather ones are common.
But this card case makes an impression at first glance.
There will surely be moments when someone says, "That's a lovely card case."
Practical and easy to use
When opened, there are pockets on both sides, so you can separate your cards from the recipient's, carry two different types of cards, or use it freely as you like. It also works well as a card holder for storing point cards rather than just business cards.
Made with care, one by one
The business card cases are made by "Yotsume Senpukusha".
At this dyeing studio, traditional Japanese techniques such as katazome (stencil dyeing) and tsutsugaki (tube-resist dyeing) are used to apply patterns to fabric, which are then used to create products like these card cases.
First, an original design is made into a stencil. The stencil is placed on the fabric and a paste made from ingredients like glutinous rice and rice bran is brushed on. The areas covered by the paste do not take the dye and become the white parts of the pattern.
Paste is applied freehand, similar to piping whipped cream. Like katazome, the pasted areas remain white, but tsutsugaki's major feature is the freedom of expression unique to hand drawing.
Whether using either technique, the subsequent steps are the same.
Once the paste has dried, dye is applied with brushes. For a single color, it's done in one go, but for multicolor finishes, each color is layered one by one as if painting a picture.
Finally, the paste is washed away with water, revealing the pattern clearly, and once dried, the piece is complete.
In this way, after many steps, a single sheet of fabric is finished and then transformed into a business card case.
Patterns you won't find anywhere else
All patterns by "Yotsume Senpukusha" are original. That means these designs can only be found here.
Circles, diamonds, straight lines, dots, swirls... patterns combining many shapes spread across the small canvas of the card case.
The handwork's subtle variations together with the soft expression of hand-dyeing enhance the charm and cuteness of the piece.
