よつめ染布舎

【Gamaguchi (kiss-lock)】SASHIKO Aodai よつめ染布舎

Price 7,106円 (tax included)

A clasp purse made with fabric finished using the "katagami dyeing" technique.

Because the stencil creation and dyeing are done entirely by hand, each piece has its own character even with the same pattern.

The uneven outlines or irregular patterns — these handcrafted "variations" create a somewhat charming, warm expression. This item lets you feel the human touch that can't be reproduced digitally.

よつめ染布舎 がま口 SASHIKO 青黛※Because the way the pattern appears changes depending on the cutting location, you cannot choose the pattern placement. Please understand this in advance.

The fittings are made of brass, giving a nostalgic yet refined feel.

The interior is finished with thick linen, creating a reassuring, carefully crafted feel. The contrast with the subdued tones of the exterior fabric is exquisite, adding a little thrill each time you open it.

Made with care, one by one

よつめ染布舎 がま口 SASHIKO 青黛

The clasp purses are made by よつめ染布舎.
At this dye studio, traditional Japanese techniques such as "katagami dyeing" and "tsutsugaki" are used to apply patterns to fabric, and those fabrics are then turned into products like clasp purses.

The exterior fabric of the clasp purse uses "katagami dyeing."
Katagami dyeing begins with creating a stencil of an original design. The stencil is placed on the fabric, and a paste made from glutinous rice, rice bran, and other ingredients is applied. The areas covered with paste do not take dye and become the white parts of the pattern.

Once the paste dries, dye is applied with a brush. For a single color, this is done in one pass, but for multicolor finishes, colors are layered one by one as if painting a picture.
Finally, when the paste is washed away with water, the pattern clearly emerges, and once dried, the piece is complete.
In this way, after a long process, a single piece of cloth is finished and then transformed into a clasp purse.
