But this card holder makes a striking impression at first glance.

Easy to use
When opened, there are pockets on both sides, so you can separate your cards and the recipient’s, carry two different types of cards, or use it freely. It’s also useful as a card case to hold loyalty cards and the like, not just business cards.
Made with care, one by one
The business card holder is made by “よつめ染布舎”.
At this dye studio, they apply patterns to fabric using Japanese traditional techniques such as katazome and tsutsugaki, and turn those fabrics into products like business card holders.
They start by creating stencils with original designs. The stencil is placed on the fabric, and a paste made from glutinous rice, rice bran, and other ingredients is applied. The areas covered with paste do not absorb dye, creating the white parts of the pattern.
Paste is applied freehand like piping whipped cream. Like katazome, the pasted areas remain white, but tsutsugaki’s major characteristic is the freedom of expression that only hand-drawing can achieve.
For either technique, the subsequent steps are the same.
Once the paste dries, dye is applied with a brush. For single-color work it’s done in one go, but for multicolor pieces, they layer the colors one by one as if painting a picture.
Finally, when the paste is washed away with water, the pattern appears clearly, and after drying the piece is finished.
Through these long processes, a single piece of fabric is completed and then shaped into a business card holder.
Patterns you won’t find anywhere else

Ovals like grains of rice, triangles, lines, dots... patterns made by combining many shapes spread across the small canvas of the card holder. Because the impression changes depending on how the fabric is cut, each product with the same pattern offers a uniquely expressive face.
