Jagaimo Bag | Animals
A cute round-shaped bag called “koron” just like a potato.
Because it has a round bottom, it can hold plenty of items, making it practical and easy to put things in and take them out.
The fabric used for the bag is makumo’s original raw fabric. The weaving and even the design and dyeing of the raw fabric are all done by hand, and the unique patterns and color schemes can only be seen here.
The lovely expressions and playful shapes of animals naturally make you want to look at them; it’s a fun design. The combination of mustard color draws attention as a coordinate accent.

Gentle on the User

The Jagaimo bag is a large size with a 40cm opening width and 30cm height. It uses sturdy canvas raw fabric (woven), so you can safely pack your items tightly inside.
The opening has a fastener, which is a nice point that securely protects the contents.
The shoulder strap is wrapped with quilted fabric for comfortable carrying.
Its length is adjustable, so you can use it as a tote bag or a shoulder bag.
Treasure the Playful Spirit

The inside of the bag is a vivid green.
Every time you put in or take out items, your heart is unexpectedly lifted—such a playful spirit is hidden inside the bag.
It also comes with an inner pocket, so you can neatly store small items.
Starting from the Raw Fabric Design

The base is pure white canvas raw fabric.
Makumo’s bags start from the design of the raw fabric.
The designer, Fukuyama-san, graduated from a dyeing department at a school of shaping arts and has experience in woodblock printing and other techniques. From her hands come patterns and color schemes that are playful yet nostalgic retro atmospheres, fresh and distinctive.

Differences in Expression Because It’s Handmade

The one who shapes Fukuyama-san’s design is Mr. Shinoki.
The technique used is called “hand dyeing (Tenassen)/silk screen.” For each color, a stencil called a “ski” is made, and dye is brushed onto the raw fabric with a large brush while layering each color carefully.
The dyed raw fabric, even with the same design, shows different expressions, creating depth and warmth that cannot be produced by digital printing.
After several processes, the finished raw fabric is shaped into the Jagaimo bag by weaving professionals’ hands.

■ Handling Precautions
Since everything is handmade, there are slight individual differences in size and shape.
Please enjoy the unique expressions of each piece.
You may notice “color bleeding” or “smudging” in hand dyeing. Especially with umbrellas, because of the nature of the material, color transfer is more likely to occur. If you enjoy the handmade atmosphere, that is part of the charm.
