Dyed Hand Towels "Turtle and Basket"
Design: Ishikita Yumi / Dyeing: Hamamatsu Dyeing Workshop

"Turtle" (Kame) and "Basket" (Kago) are motifs used in this dyed hand towel, creating a soft and somewhat nostalgic scenery.
Based on the design by dyer Ishikita Yumi, the Hamamatsu Dyeing Workshop carefully dyes each piece one by one.
The dyeing technique unique to hand dyeing, where the color penetrates beautifully without an inner and outer side distinction, adds excellent brilliance within the subtle gradation.
It is recommended as an interior accent or as a gift.

Since all dyeing is done by handcraft, there are individual differences in the texture and color application of the dye.
In some cases, you may see slight color irregularities or uneven dyeing, but please consider this as part of the charm unique to hand dyeing.

【Wax Application】 Left
This process uses stencil paper to carefully apply wax resist (bouzenori) to areas where some fabric should remain undyed.
The presence of this wax prevents the dye from penetrating the fabric, making the stencil pattern clearly visible.
【Dyeing (Injection)】 Right
This process uses a tool called "Yakan" to inject dye from above and dye the fabric.
The injected dye penetrates thoroughly to the bottom of the fabric, resulting in a beautiful finish without front and back distinction.
The individual differences and slight shaking that occur are part of the charm of hand dyeing.

【Washing】 Left
After dyeing, the fabric is carefully washed with water to remove undyed dye and paste that has not adhered.
This washing causes the color to fade slightly, creating a gentle harmony.
【Drying】 Right
The washed fabric is hung high and dried naturally by wind and light.
The gentle fluttering appearance is one of the beautiful sceneries unique to hand dyeing.
