Traditional Patterns and Craftsmanship Unite in a Beautiful and Practical Goshuincho

The “Pattern of Happiness” series is an original design that brings to life the “wish for happiness” found in Japan’s traditional patterns, created together with a textile designer.

One of the patterns, Ichimatsu, incorporates meanings such as “prosperity of descendants” and “continuity of business” derived from its precise and correct motif.

We designed a modern style that infuses good fortune motifs with a contemporary lifestyle.

Exquisite Craftsmanship: Carefully handcrafted point by point by experts in Kyoto’s specialized workshops
Modern Traditional Patterns: Enjoy selecting from 6 pattern types × 2 colors
Also an Elegant Gift: The “Pattern of Happiness” conveys special thoughts

Enjoy Your Visits to Shrines and Temples Even More

The goshuincho size is a standard large size of 18 cm by 12 cm (B6). This convenient size allows you to easily insert your goshuin stamps and also slip it into a clear cover.

With a folded accordion style, the total number of pages is 48 pages on both sides (24 sheets).

Like an accordion, the single long sheet is folded and stacked, so when opened you can see multiple goshuin stamps at a glance.

The goshuincho can of course be used for many purposes beyond temple and shrine visits, such as mini notebooks, scrapbooks, travel notes, recipe notebooks, or collections of works, making it a versatile item.

Every time you hold it in your hand, your heart feels aligned, making your time visiting shrines and temples even richer.

The Charm of Hand-Dyed Craftsmanship

The hand-dyed Japanese paper used in this goshuincho is handcrafted point by point by skilled artisans specializing in hand-dyeing Japanese paper in Kyoto’s workshops.

The deep colors and unique blending created by traditional techniques are captivating.

Looking closely at the weave, you can feel the weight of the subtle colors unique to hand-dyeing.

Subtle gradations and nuances created by skilled craftsmanship produce a unique beauty found nowhere else.

Each edition is carefully dyed point by point, giving rise to depth and warmth that cannot be expressed by a simple print.

The hand-dyed Japanese paper, brushed and finished by Kyoto’s binding artisans point by point, expresses subtle differences in appearance that showcase your unique sensibility.

We invite you to experience the charm of this blend of colors and warmth born from the artisans’ handiwork.

The Wishes and Prayers Embedded in the Ichimatsu Pattern

Elegant Ichimatsu, a Traditional Beauty

If you weave the correct pattern of colors repeatedly in a checkered fashion, it begins to look as if it’s gently moving.

The Ichimatsu pattern looks as if life itself is being breathed into it.

When singer and actress Ichikawa Ichimatsu appeared softly in a white and crimson outfit, especially women eagerly dressed similarly.

It was so popular that the Ichimatsu pattern, once called “Ishikawa pattern,” was renamed “Ichimatsu pattern.”

Even today, it appears as the green and black checkered design of the protagonist’s kimono in the manga “Demon Slayer,” beloved by many regardless of era.

The colors are divided into a green series that is fresh and vibrant,

and a warm red series with two colors. While the color combinations are subdued, each has its own character, making them perfect as a colorful item for your goshuincho visits.

※ Because large sheets are cut to size, there may be individual differences in the placement of the weave. Please understand.
