Traditional and Storytelling Hand Towels

“Kamawanu” is a traditional towel game combining kama (sickle) + wa (ring) + nu (cloth), called a “judging object,” a traditional towel that has continued since the Edo period.
It was also used in song and dance costumes, and is a towel with a pattern that has depth and elegance, used daily as a hand towel.

The gentle texture of the cotton feels excellent on the skin, and the more you use it, the more the texture improves and it fits comfortably in your hand.

As a tapestry, interior item, handkerchief, napkin, or lunch wrap, it is a versatile item that can be used conveniently in various scenes.
“Dyeing” Skill of Craftsmen Continuing from the Meiji Era

Kamawanu hand towels are made using Japan’s unique dyeing technique called “chusen” (immersion dyeing), which has continued since the Meiji era. By placing the resist and immersing the dye all at once, it is characterized by being reversible and usable on both sides without lining.

Due to the handmade production process, subtle “playfulness” occurs in the colors and patterns, and the more you use it, the more the texture changes. Each piece is unique, possessing an expression like no other, growing into a presence that becomes more charming with use.
