Quiet and calm hand-dyed fabric that sings to the heart of summer
This is a piece called “Nijiyuranaide,” which expresses the delicate summer shades of purple sunflowers with the sensibility of an artisan. It was created for an exhibition at Igirisu, featuring a special background.
The hand-dyed fabric depicts a faint, gentle summer-colored large ring, and each time you use it, it conveys a warm and comforting feeling as if it has settled softly.
Each piece of hand-dyed fabric has subtly different color patterns. The soft purple tones and light tones together give a soothing impression to the eyes and gently calm the mood.
As a traditional hand-dyed fabric, it is of course wonderful to use it as a handkerchief, a lunch mat, an eye mask, or a decorative cloth. It also livens up as a small item that adds a seasonal feeling.

Hand-dyed, 100% silk with heartfelt comfort
The fabric of Nijiyura hand-dyed cloth uses “Kōsai-rashi” which is a slightly muted purple that draws the eye in.
Compared to usual, more time is spent removing impurities from the silk fabric through traditional bleaching processes, resulting in a smooth texture that feels pleasant on the skin.
The more you use it, the easier it becomes to handle, quietly adding a touch of brightness to everyday life.
Japan’s unique dyeing technique “Chūsen”
Chūsen is a dyeing technique unique to Japan, born in Osaka during the Meiji era.
By pouring dye onto cloth and dyeing it, it is possible to dye 20 to 30 pieces of cloth at once.
Because the cloth is layered like a stack and dyed twice from both front and back, a beautiful finish without distinction between front and back is a major feature.
The process is complex and all done by the artisan’s handwork. For this reason, no two pieces are exactly the same.
The delicate blurring and soft gradation unique to handwork are the greatest charm of Chūsen.

[How to Use]
Fold both ends and tuck in the long folded parts. Wash 2 to 3 times and the fabric will soften and become easier to fold.
