Traditional patterns and craftsmanship intertwined, beautifully practical Gamaguchi

The “Pattern of Happiness” series is an original design born from the meaning of “wishing for happiness” found in traditional Japanese patterns, created together with a textile designer.
One of the patterns, the pine, preserves its green leaves throughout the year and endures harsh cold, symbolizing “longevity.”
We have designed a modern style that infuses the good motifs of tradition into contemporary life.
✔ Meticulous craftsmanship: Each piece is carefully dyed by hand at a dyeing workshop in Kyoto
✔ Modern traditional patterns: Enjoy selecting from three types of patterns and two colors
✔ High durability: Made from thick, flat-woven No. 11 cotton fabric, durable and long-lasting
✔ Also a high-quality gift: The “Pattern of Happiness” conveys special thoughts
Enjoy the taste of Japan in everyday life

Gamaguchi is a vertically elongated shape measuring 20cm in height × 16cm in width × 2.5cm in depth. It fits small items like smartphones and mini wallets, providing a slightly compact feel for quick outings.

The large opening makes the interior easily visible, allowing you to quickly take out items even when in a hurry.

The shoulder strap length is adjustable, ranging from a narrow size suitable for petite women to a wide size for taller women. Since it can be detached, it’s also convenient to use as a pouch or small storage.

Of course, it’s perfect for everyday use such as strolls and shopping, and also ideal for travel as a sub-bag, or to match traditional Japanese clothing like yukata and kimono, and for special occasions.
Adding a touch of Japanese color to your daily outings.
Charm of hand-dyeing craftsmanship stands out

Gamaguchi features an original textile design.
Made from domestically produced cotton fabric “Fujikinbai,” a traditional cotton fabric with a history, each piece is carefully hand-dyed one by one using precious shuttle looms.

At a dyeing workshop in Kyoto, skilled artisans hand-dye each piece of this high-quality cotton fabric.
The deep colors and unique blending created by traditional techniques are truly captivating.

Looking closely at the fabric, you can feel the weight of the finely woven colors unique to hand-dyeing. The subtle gradations and blending achieved only by handcrafting express a one-of-a-kind beauty.
Each piece is carefully dyed one by one, creating a warmth and depth that cannot be expressed by simple printing.

The delicate craftsmanship highlights the refined beauty of Japan. Each time you use it, you can feel the meaning of Japanese craftsmanship and traditional patterns.
We invite you to experience the charm of this harmony and warmth born from the artisan’s handiwork.
Wishes and prayers woven into the pine pattern

The pine is a symbol of longevity
The pine is a plant that Japanese people have long loved as a sacred symbol.
Even in the cold winter, its green leaves remain, symbolizing “longevity.” The pine, along with plum and cherry blossoms, has been imbued with the wish for “prosperous descendants” in a single tree.
Since the Edo period, the pine has been regarded as a divine plant, appearing in Noh stage backdrops, and pine gates are made to welcome the New Year deity, making it an indispensable presence in the arts and seasonal celebrations.
The strong vitality and beauty of the pine continue to be loved by many people even today.

The colors are a green series representing verdant greenery,

and an orange series with a warm tone.
While the colors harmonize softly, each has its own personality, making them ideal as colorful items for everyday life. Since it is a Japanese modern design, it also matches well with traditional clothing such as yukata and kimono.
※ Because the fabric is cut from large bolts, there may be individual differences in placement. Please understand this in advance.
