Yotsume dyed cloth | Gama mouth Kuro Tsunage Black
It is a cloth dyed using the technique called "katazome" and is hand-stitched.
Because the entire process from pattern making to dyeing is done by hand, each piece has its own unique character.
When the frame shakes or the pattern is not uniform—this kind of handmade work creates a “wobble” that gives the fabric an affectionately warm expression. It is an item that conveys the breath of human hands, something that digital methods cannot express.
*Because the way the pattern appears changes depending on the cutting position, you cannot select the pattern placement. Thank you for your understanding.
A daily companion with a thoughtful design
Its size is just right to fit snugly in both hands and it won’t be bulky even in a bag.
Moreover, it can hold small items such as lip creams and makeup tools, giving a pleasantly compact feel.
Because it has a wide mouth, it opens smoothly and closes softly. You can easily open it with one hand and quickly take out or put in what you need, making it very convenient.

The quality you can feel every time you hold it
The metal fittings use brass, giving a nostalgic and well-trained atmosphere.

The inside is lined with thick fabric, making it a sturdy and reassuringly made product.
The contrast with the dyed outer fabric is exquisite, adding a slight sense of excitement each time you open it.
Each piece is crafted with thoughtfulness
Yotsume is made using the "Yotsume Dyed Cloth Pouch" technique.
At our dyeing studio, we use the traditional Japanese techniques of “katazome” and “tsutsumikaki” to apply patterns on cloth, creating products like Yotsume.
“Katazome” is used on the fabric of Yotsume.
Katazome starts by making stencil paper with original designs. The stencil paper is placed on the cloth, and a paste mixed with rice bran or rice flour is applied and printed. The areas where the paste is applied do not get dyed, creating white parts in the pattern.
After the paste dries, dye is applied with a brush. If it is a single color, the process finishes in one go, but for multicolor dyeing, colors are layered one by one like painting.
Finally, when the paste is washed off with water, the pattern clearly appears, and once dried, the product is complete.
This long process is repeated to complete one piece of cloth, which is then shaped into Yotsume.

The stencil you can only find here
All the stencils used for the "Yotsume Dyed Cloth Pouch" are original. Therefore, this design cannot be found anywhere else.
The embroidery pattern is said to symbolize fertility, health, and protection from illness and disaster, and has long been used in family crests, clothing, lacquerware, and woodcraft.
With such history, the pattern has been modernized into a contemporary Northern European taste. Even in a Japanese style without indigo dyeing, you can casually enjoy the traditional Japanese pattern.
