Yotsume dyeing cloth | Gama mouth cotton cloth blue indigo

Price 7,106円 (tax included)

It's a mouthpiece made using a technique called "katazome" on cloth.

Because the process from stencil making to dyeing is done by hand, even the same stencil has individual characteristics.

If the stencil shakes or the pattern is uneven, such handwork creates a "shaking" that somehow produces an affectionately warm expression. It is an item that conveys the breath of human hands, something that cannot be expressed digitally.

* Due to the cutting position, the way the pattern appears on the cloth may change, so you cannot choose the position of the pattern. Please understand this in advance.

A user-friendly design that you will want to carry daily

It is large enough to fit comfortably in both hands and won’t be bulky even when placed in a bag.
Moreover, it can also hold small items such as lip cream and makeup tools, giving a just right feeling of size.Yotsume Gama Mouthpiece SASHIKO Cotton Indigo
Because it is a mouthpiece, it opens wide and opens and closes smoothly. You can open it with one hand and quickly take out or put in what you need, making it very convenient.

The quality you can feel every time you hold it

The metal fittings use brass, giving a nostalgic, well-practiced atmosphere.

The inside is lined with thick linen, making it a sturdy and reassuringly crafted item.

The contrast with the dyed fabric inside is exquisite, and every time you open it, it adds a little sparkle.

Making the mouthpiece involves "Yotsume Katazome".
In our dyeing workshop, we use traditional Japanese techniques such as "katazome" and "tsutsuzome" to apply patterns on cloth and produce products like mouthpieces.

"Katazome" is used on the fabric surface.
Katazome starts by making stencil paper from original designs. The stencil paper is placed on the cloth, and paste mixed with rice bran or soybeans is applied. The areas covered with paste do not get dyed, creating white parts of the pattern.

After the paste dries, dye is applied with a brush.
If using a single color, the process finishes at once, but for multi-color finishing, colors are applied one by one like painting.

Finally, the paste is washed off with water, and the pattern clearly floats up, completing the process after drying.

In this way, a long process is taken to complete one piece of cloth, which then shapes the mouthpiece.

Stencils you can only find here

All stencils of "Yotsume Katazome" are original. Therefore, this design can only be found here.
