Dye artist Yunoki Sataro
Born in Tokyo in 1922. He studied art history at the University of Tokyo but was interrupted by the war. While working at the Ohara Museum of Art, he met the "Minzoku" of Onoe Keiyu and advanced toward the path of dyeing as an apprentice to the dyer Takezawa Setsusuke.
Since then, he has been active as the leading figure in mold dyeing, held solo exhibitions in Paris from 2008 to 2010, gaining high acclaim. In 2014, more than 70 of his works were collected by the French National Museum of Asian Arts - Guimet.
