While cherishing tradition, the utensil designed with free imagination is somewhat different from the image of the traditional "Yachimun".

Each piece is carefully handcrafted one by one in a small workshop in Okinawa, keeping in mind the feelings of the users.

Free design not bound by tradition

The word "Yachimun," meaning pottery in the Okinawan dialect, is said to have a history of over 6,000 years. Traditional forms include Tang grass patterns and point stamping, which are still loved by many people today.

Among them, the utensil with hand-applied "Issuigma" (one-dot pattern) is a modern and pop design created somewhere, sometime.
While valuing the traditional patterns and the warmth typical of Yachimun, our original Yachimun is characterized by designs that draw a single line.

The "Shangrila" introduced this time is also a unique piece. Its somewhat academic pattern evokes a Western atmosphere like stained glass, while also giving a sense of Japanese elements. Therefore, it can be used freely for Western or Japanese dishes.

Also, bright color combinations such as yellow and orange, or chic color combinations unified by a single tea color, are rarely seen in other Yachimun.

Of course, it is a design you will want to use as your tableware or for holding small items.

Easy-to-use sizes and shapes

The products are available in two sizes: "small size" and "medium size," both designed to be easy to use daily.
(Note: On this page, we introduce the small size. Please check [here] for the medium size.)

Even the small size measures approximately 16.5 x 11.5 cm.
It can be widely used as a serving dish for grilled fish, sashimi, boiled eggs, tomato caprese, or as a dish for picking up cookies, covering main dishes, side dishes, and desserts.

Also, its shallow shape makes it very versatile and suitable for everyday dining.

Craftsmanship: Issuigma (One-dot pattern)

The products are handmade by "Issuigma," a workshop located in Yomitanson in the central part of Okinawa’s main island, near the west coast.

The representative, Mr. Hiroya Takahashi, traveled to various countries such as India and Thailand after graduating from school, where he encountered pottery. After that, he learned the craft and established Issuigma in 2005.

What Mr. Takahashi values is not just making utensils for cooking, but creating pieces that brighten the mood and make you feel happy when used.
When the utensils are wonderful, the food looks delicious and the dining experience feels special.

At Issuigma, the feelings of the user and the time born through the utensil are valued as invisible values in the production process.

■ Handling precautions
Since each piece is handmade, shaped, painted, and fired individually, there may be slight differences in size. We hope you enjoy these unique characteristics as part of the charm of the product. There are also individual differences on the back side.

Since the products are made of pottery, similar to handmade or denim, repeated use may cause changes in the glaze. Many people enjoy the aging of pottery as its flavor, but if you want to keep your product close to its new condition, we recommend performing "mewatame" (a finishing process) before use.
Also, due to the nature of pottery and the method of use and care, cracks or crazing may occur. For more details about the nature of pottery and care, please check here (official).
