The utensil, designed with free imagination while cherishing tradition, is somewhat different from the traditional Okinawan 'yachimun' image.

Each piece is carefully crafted one by one in a small workshop in Okinawa, keeping in mind the feelings of the users.

A free design that does not cling to tradition

The Okinawan word 'yachimun,' meaning pottery, is said to have a history of over 6,000 years. Traditional forms include Tang grass patterns and dotted designs, and they are still loved by many people today.

Meanwhile, the utensil called "Issuigama" is made by hand somewhere in a modest workshop, somewhere in a small pottery studio.
While valuing the traditional patterns and the warm feeling typical of yachimun, it is characterized by drawing a single line design different from the usual yachimun.

The "Shangrila" introduced this time is also a unique piece. Its somewhat academic pattern resembles a Western atmosphere like stained glass, while also evoking a hint of Japanese elements. Therefore, it can be used regardless of whether the cuisine is Western or Japanese.

Also, bright color combinations such as yellow and orange, or chic single-color combinations like tea color, are rarely seen in other yachimun.

Of course, as a bowl, it is a stylish design that you will want to use even for small portions.

Easy-to-use sizes and shapes

The main products come in two sizes: "small size" and "medium size," both designed for everyday use and ease of handling.
(*This page introduces the small size. Please check the [medium size] from here.)

The small size measures approximately 16.5 x 11.5 cm.
It is large enough to be used widely, from grilled fish and sashimi to dashi soup, tomato caprese, or as a bowl for picking up cookies.

Also, the shallow shape is convenient to use and versatile for daily meals.

Craftsmanship of Issuigama

The products are handmade at "Issuigama," a workshop located in Yomitanson, central Okinawa, near the west coast.

Mr. Hiroya Takahashi, a representative, traveled to various countries such as India and Thailand after graduating school, where he encountered pottery. Afterwards, he studied the craft and founded Issuigama in 2005.

What Mr. Takahashi values is not just creating utensils for cooking, but making utensils that brighten the mood and make people feel happy when used.
When the utensil is wonderful, the food looks delicious and the dining experience feels special.

At Issuigama, they carefully consider the feelings of the users and the value of the time born through the utensil when creating their products.

■ Handling precautions
Each piece is handmade, painted, and fired, so slight individual differences in finish may occur.
Please enjoy these as the unique character of each item. There are also individual differences on the reverse side.

Because the products are made of pottery, like other ceramics and denims, colors may change with repeated use.
While many enjoy the aging of the pottery’s taste, if you want to keep it close to its new condition, we recommend performing a "stop" treatment before use.
Also, due to the nature of pottery and the way it is used and cared for, cracks or chips may occur.
