Traditional patterns and artisan techniques intertwined, beautifully practical Gamaguchi

The "Pattern of Happiness" series is an original design born from the traditional Japanese patterns that embody the meaning of wishing for happiness, created together with a textile designer.

One of the patterns, Pine, has come to symbolize "longevity" because it preserves its green leaves throughout the year and endures harsh cold.

We designed a modern pattern that dyes the good motifs of tradition into contemporary lifestyle.

Meticulous artisan techniques: Each piece dyed carefully at a dyeing workshop in Kyoto
Modern traditional patterns: Enjoy choosing from three types of patterns × two color variations
High durability: Made with sturdy thick handwoven cotton canvas (No.11), durable and long-lasting
Also suitable as high-quality gifts: The "Pattern of Happiness" conveys special sentiments

Enjoy the beautiful colors of Japan in your hands

The size of the Gamaguchi is approximately 10.5cm wide × 19cm long × 14.5cm deep. Its rectangular shape fits comfortably in a bag and is a convenient size for everyday use.

The large opening makes it easy to see inside, and taking items in and out is smooth.

The design is simple and straightforward, so it’s perfect for carrying wallets, makeup, small items, passbooks, passports, and more, making it very versatile.

Of course, it can also be used as a clutch bag, matching Japanese clothing such as bathrobes and kimonos, and is perfect for special outings.

Add a touch of Japanese color to your everyday life.

The charm of hand dyeing stands out in artisan techniques

The Gamaguchi features an original textile design by Fuwa Market.

It is made from a domestically produced cotton canvas brand called "Fujikinbai," a traditional cotton canvas known for its quality, now dyed one by one with a precious shuttle loom.

At a dyeing workshop in Kyoto, artisans carefully hand-dye this high-quality cotton canvas.

The traditional technique produces deep colors and a unique harmony that is truly captivating.

Looking closely at the pine pattern, you can feel the subtle layering of colors unique to hand dyeing. The delicate gradations and nuances create a harmony exclusive to handcrafted work, expressing a one-of-a-kind beauty.

Each piece is dyed carefully one by one, bringing warmth and depth that cannot be expressed by simple printing.

The craftsmanship brings out the refined beauty of Japanese aesthetics in every detail. Each time you use it, you can feel the meaning of traditional patterns and the skill of artisans.

Please experience the charm of this harmony and warmth created by the artisan’s handiwork.

Wishes and prayers woven into the Pine pattern

Pine is a symbol of prosperity

Pine is a plant that Japanese people have long loved as a sacred symbol.

Even in the cold winter, it retains its lush green leaves, symbolizing "longevity." The pine, along with plum and cherry blossoms blooming on a single branch, represents the wish for "prosperous descendants."

Since the Edo period, pine has been regarded as a plant where gods dwell, painted on Noh stage backdrops, and pine gates have been made to welcome the New Year gods. It has become an indispensable presence in Japanese arts and seasonal decorations.

The strong vitality and beauty of pine continue to be loved by many people even today.

The colors include a green series with a calm and refreshing tone,

and an orange series with a warm feel, both offered in two color variations.

The colors fall harmoniously while still having individuality, making them perfect as colorful items for everyday life. Because they are Japanese modern designs, they also match well with bathrobes and kimonos.

※Because the cotton canvas is cut from large fabric rolls, there are individual differences in the pattern placement. Please understand this in advance.
