Dyed Hand Towel "Rice Grain"

Design: Ishikita Yumi / Dyeing: Hamamatsu Dyeing Workshop

This is a dyed hand towel featuring a motif of rice grains, evoking a gentle and somewhat nostalgic scenery.

Based on the design by dyer Ishikita Yumi, each piece is carefully dyed by the Hamamatsu Dyeing Workshop.

Unlike typical dyeing, the absence of a back side in the dyeing process adds a subtle brilliance to the overall appearance.

Recommended as an interior accent or as a gift item.

Since all dyeing is done by hand, there are individual differences in the texture and color application of the dye.

Some color variations and uneven dyeing may be visible in parts, but these are part of the charm unique to hand-dyed items. We would be happy if you could appreciate this.

[Resist Application] Left side

Using stencil paper, the part where the pattern is to be left uncolored is carefully applied with resist paste (bouzenori) in a precise process.

By applying the resist, the dye does not penetrate the fabric, and the outline of the pattern becomes clearly visible.

[Dyeing (Resist Dyeing)] Right side

Using a tool called "Yakan," the dye is carefully poured from above in the dyeing process.

The dyed color penetrates firmly to the underside of the fabric, creating a beautiful finish without a back side.

Variations and slight shaking unique to handwork add to the charm of resist dyeing.

[Washing] Left side

After dyeing is completed, the cloth is carefully washed with water to remove excess dye and paste that did not adhere.

This washing process causes the colors to fade softly, producing a gentle harmony.

[Drying] Right side

The washed cloth is hung high and dried naturally in the wind and sunlight.

The gentle fluttering in the breeze is one of the beautiful scenes unique to dyed hand towels.
