Traditional patterns and artisan skills intertwined, a beautiful and practical vertical tote bag

The "Pattern of Happiness" series is an original design that brings to life the "wish for happiness" meaning inherent in traditional Japanese patterns, created together with a textile designer.

One of the series' motifs is the Nanten plant, which has been cherished since ancient times as a "ward off evil" and "remove misfortune" plant.

We designed a modern style that infuses the good fortune of the pattern into contemporary life.

Refined artisan skills: Each piece is carefully dyed at a dyeing workshop in Kyoto
Modern traditional patterns: Enjoy choosing from three types of patterns and two color variations
High durability: Made from thick, flat-woven No. 8 cotton fabric, durable and long-lasting
Also perfect as a high-quality gift: The "Pattern of Happiness" conveys special thoughts

Traditional beauty that adds elegance to everyday life

The size of the vertical tote bag is approximately 34cm height × 35cm width (26cm bottom width).

It is large enough to comfortably fit A4-sized notebooks and files.

The handle is 11cm wide, and wallets, pouches, small bottles, and folding umbrellas can all be neatly stored inside.

Since it can hold a lot, it is also recommended as a bag for shopping or to use as a library bag.

The interior has a convenient mini pocket for storing small items like keys and cards.

The opening has a metal button, making the contents less visible and preventing items from flying out.

Whether for shopping, casual outings, daily use, commuting to school or work, traveling, or leisure, this tote bag is a versatile companion.

It adds a touch of Japanese elegance to your everyday outings.

The captivating artisan skills of hand dyeing

The tote bag features an original textile design by Fuwa Market.

Using domestically produced cotton fabric from the renowned "Fushikinbai" brand, the fabric is dyed one piece at a time using a precious traditional loom.

At a dyeing workshop in Kyoto, skilled artisans hand-dye each piece of this high-quality cotton fabric.

The traditional technique creates deep colors and a unique blend that is truly captivating.

Looking at the fabric up close, you can feel the rich layering of colors unique to hand dyeing.

Subtle gradations and nuances bring out a one-of-a-kind beauty that only handcrafted work can achieve.

Each piece is carefully dyed one by one, creating a depth and warmth that cannot be expressed by simple printing.

The hand-dyed cotton fabric is crafted by skilled artisans, with each piece showing subtle differences that express your unique personality.

Experience the charm and warmth born from the artisan’s handiwork.

Wishes and prayers woven into the Nanten pattern

Nanten for warding off evil

Nanten is a plant that has been transmitted from China during the Heian period and has long been treasured as a medicinal herb to suppress misfortune.

It is believed to bring good luck by bearing many bright red berries from late autumn to early winter, symbolizing the wish to "turn difficulties into happiness." It is cherished as a plant that wards off evil.

Also, placing it near the entrance is said to prevent evil spirits from entering, adding to its meaning as a protective charm.

According to the Encyclopedia of Botany from the Edo period, "planting Nanten prevents fires," and many households traditionally plant it in unlucky corners to protect their homes.

The colors include a warm red series,

and a gentle blue series in two color variations.

A color that blends in naturally yet has personality, making it ideal as an item that brightens your daily life. Since it is a Japanese-modern design, it also pairs well with traditional Japanese clothing such as yukata and kimono.

※ Due to the handmade nature of the weaving, there are individual differences in the placement of the stripes. Please understand this in advance.
